Wipkip 16+

Wipkip 16+ is an object consisting of a two-stroke engine on a steel pole. The object is inspired by (and functions in the same way as) playground equipment for children. To operate the 'toy' you have to take place almost directly on the motor. The unmuffled noise and vibration create an intense experience of mechanical force. The object is suggestive of the playful way male adolescents experience mechanics. These youths are often seen riding around on their scooters 'aimlessly' or revving the engines. Local authorities try to provide alternatives to adolescents by creating special areas for them and this object would be the perfect 'toy' for such a 'playground for adolescents'. Unfortunately it has not yet been installed in such a place. It has however been presented at the Garage festival in Stralsund where it demonstrated its entertaining capabilities.
